In an announcement that includes a country music legend, a billionaire, a countess and a few racing trophies, Dan Kruse Classics, one of the worlds most prestigious classic car auction houses, announced the extraordinary opportunity to own one of eighty-seven classic automobiles including vehicles from some of the worlds most fabled personalities and historical events. The collection of respected businessman and philanthropist Dick Burdickwill be offered exclusively on Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Rosansky, Texas outside of Bastropand near Austin at the Central Texas Museum of Automotive History. For the first time ever, this extensive collection at the Central Texas Museum of Automotive History Collection will go on the auction block giving collectors and enthusiasts of fine automotive collectibles and memorabilia a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. After 32 years, Burdick will be moving his facility to his hometown of San Marcos, Texas giving way to the auction of these fine automobiles most without reserve.

The unprecedented sale will include historical automobiles like the rare 1903 Stanley Steamer Runabout to the fabled 1970 Rolls Royce Silver Show Long Wheel Base Limousine owned by the man in black himself, Johnny Cash or even a 1969 Chevrolet Corvair Coupe with only 14 actual miles on it.

Other highlights of the sale include a 1905 Lorraine & De Dietrich VDC Two Seat Racer from the Great Race , a 1935 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Touring vehicle from the Great Race, a 1911 very rare Napier Garden Car, a 1901 Holsman Model 54 High Wheeler Rear Entry Tonneau , a 1948 Pontiac Silver Streak 8 Torpedo Convertible , a 1933 Duesenberg J-365 Sports Sedan Queen of Diamonds, a 1913 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Town Car owned by billionaire Cornelius Vanderbilt , a 1906 International Harvester Depot Hack and many more.

The 1903 Stanley Steamer Solid Seat Runabout is the most famous and longest-lived steam car in the world. The cars design was improved by placing the engine toward the rear which improved weight balance. All of the body parts were made by hand due to the odd curvature and the Stanley boiler could raise 250 pounds of steam from cold water in about 5 minutes, making it one of the most efficient vehicles of its time. The vehicle is very rare being designed by the Stanley Brothers in the early 1900s.

When Johnny Cash sang of Wednesdays Car in the early 70s he may have been referring to his beloved 1970 Rolls Royce Silver Show Long Wheel Base Limousine.

Step back in time to the Great American Race, the cross-country rally that pits driver/navigator teams against the clock and each other and which has been immortalized in film and fiction. In homage to this historical pastime a 1905 Lorraine & De Dietrich DVC two seater from the Great Race and a 1935 RollsRoyce Phantom II Touring car from the Great Race are being offered. The 1905 two seater is a beautifully restored example of the quality French motoring company founded in 1896, Societe Lorraine des Anciens Establisshments de Dietrich and Cie. This car features a two-place arrangement that has actually competed in the Great American Race.

Affectionately known as the Yellow Rose of Texas, the 1935 Rolls Royce Phantom II competed in several editions of the Great American Race also. Throughout the several entries in the race that this particular vehicle was involved it traveled from West Coast to East Coast and everywhere in between. It took 1st place overall in 1989, a fete which was repeated in 1990 and also in 1992.

A 1929 Duesenberg Franay limo with a divider window is one of only two ever built and shown in the 1931 and 1934 Paris Show and owned by Countess Proceri will also be offered. This fine red automobile features tan leather interior, left hand drive and twin overhead camshafts. Countess Porceri who married the Polish Count Henri de Porceri in Paris in 1931 was known as the Queen of Diamonds because of her love of jewelry and special relationship with the famous jeweler, Harry Winston. When the Duesenberg debuted in 1928 it was the sensation of both general and automotive enthusiasts.

One of the richest Americans in history, Cornelius Vanderbilt, knew how to travel in grand style. His 1913 Rolls Royce silver Ghost Town Car is being offered in this rare auction. The American entrepreneur who built his wealth in shipping and railroads was the patriarch of the Vanderbilt family and was also known by the sobriquet Commodore. This deep maroon treasure was personally ordered by Vanderbilt from the factory in England and treasured by himself and his family.

The road ready drop top light yellow 1948 Pontiac Silver Streak 8 Torpedo Convertible is among Burdicks favorites and features black and ivory interior. The light yellow exterior finish is known as Frances Ivory. This limited, rarely seen automobile features super calibrated speedometers, operational driving lights, great chrome and trim and under the hood updates. Push the buttons on the radio that is in working order and you can almost feel the young love and energetic music associated with the car of this distinction.

The Jewelry Department highlights sought after pieces that are sure to please in the February Estate Sale. A classic Tiffany & Co. diamond and platinum engagement ring is a timeless piece of exceptional quality. The ring centers a round brilliant cut diamond weighing approximately 0.95 carats and is accented by fifteen full cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 0.20 carats. The stones exhibit beautiful color and clarity and are set in platinum. Signed Tiffany & Co. (lot 127, $ 2,500-3,500).

Making an appearance once again on the auction room floor are Ippolita jewelry pieces. Ippolita has been extremely popular in previous offerings at Michaans and we are pleased to have a varied assortment in wonderful condition yet again. One such piece is lot 100, an Ippolita diamond, 18k yellow gold Anniversary bracelet. The asymmetric links are encrusted in approximately three hundred and forty full cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 3.00 carats. Signed Ippolita Anniversary 2010 ($ 2,500-3,500). Also available is an Ippolita Party ring featuring blue chalcedony, mother-of-pearl and blue topaz set in 18k yellow gold. Signed Ippolita (lot 104, $ 700-900).

Amongst the Asian Departments sale of porcelains, jades, furniture, ivory, coral, artworks and decorative items is lot 204, a collection of Asian style jewelry ($ 400-600). The pieces in the unusual grouping were purchased in Hong Kong in the 1960s and 70s, displaying numerous ethnic and Asian design nuances. The collection is indicative of its provenance, coming from the Napa estate of a world traveler and collector. Of the three beaded and inlaid necklaces is a Tibetan style coral, turquoise, lapis lazuli, malachite necklace featuring stone ornamentation on the chain and a medallion centerpiece with three ornate drops. The necklace shows quality workmanship and is handsomely displayed in a custom made, fitted box. Completing the lot is a three specimen coral ring measuring approximately 2 1/2 inches in height and an enamel, floral motif bangle bracelet displaying lovely blue and green tones and cut out designs.

The Furniture and Decorations Department presents a variety of lots including porcelain service sets, folk art, vintage accessories, decorative pipes, clocks, rugs and silver. Lot 380 is a Rosenthal Winoblad Studio Line dinner service set that serves eight ($ 3,000-4,000). The set is fashioned in the Magic Flute Pattern which was based upon opera imagery. The continuous artwork on the pieces depict stylized figures cavorting amongst animals, flora and fauna. The heavy gold leaf work is absolutely gorgeous, making the set a lovely addition for a formal dinner party.

The Fine Art portion of the February auction is largely composed of 18th, 19th and 20th century European and American works of art. Offerings include but are not limited to sculpture, watercolors, oil paintings, drawings, lithographs, etchings, block prints and ceramics. Numerous prominent California artists are featured in the sale including Henrietta Berk, Carl Jonnevold, Leslie B. Buck and Melanie Taylor Kent. Highlighting the European offerings is an Achille Lauge oil, masterfully yet simply depicted in a realist style. Basket of Roses displays a gathering of blush and red blooms in and about a simple wicker basket. From one of the most coveted names comes this eternally collectable painting, offered as lot 516 ($ 8,000-12,000).
